How to Report a Fraud or Scam and What to do if You Have Been a Victim

There are various steps you should take if you have fallen victim to a fraud or scam. Firstly, if you have revealed any of your bank or credit card details you should report this to your bank immediately. The second step is to submit a formal complaint to your local police authority or appropriate government crime investigation agencies or administrative bodies so that they can investigate the complaint and if possible proceed with criminal prosecution or administrative action. If the place of commission of the wrongful or criminal act and the perpetrator/wrongdoer are in the same country, we suggest you submit a sworn complaint to the police authority in that country, for investigation. If however, the fraud or scam is of an international nature, typically internet based scams, we suggest you report the matter to the appropriate internet crime unit of the national police in your own country, as well as to international crime investigation agencies. And finally, you should report the fraud or scam locally and internationally to warn others so that they don’t fall victim to the same con-artist, fraudster or scammer. There are various websites available on the internet designed for this purpose, including WWW.EXPOSELIARS.COM.
